Abby Sloan has won numerous awards as a Master Teacher during her 34 years in the field of education.  She earned a Bachelor of Music degree with high honors from the University of Illinois, a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University and a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics from Northeastern Illinois University.  Abby has also earned a Certificate of Advanced Studies degree in Supervision of Instruction at National Louis University.   In addition, she earned her State of Illinois teaching certificate by completing qualification courses and exams.  In 2001, she won a Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholarship to Japan.  Abby is also listed twice in Who's Who Among America's Teachers.

In addition to her excellence in teaching,  Abby has traveled the world and lived and worked in Europe.  She has traveled extensively to Russia, China, Thailand, Bali, Singapore, Israel and most of Europe.  She lived in Germany where she played French horn professionally in a German orchestra and experienced living in another culture.

Seven years ago, Abby traveled to South America visiting Peru and Ecuador and was taken by the cultures of these countries.  Shortly after her visit she decided that she'd like to encourage others to see this unusual country so she  formed  Pumamaki Expeditions, Inc.  Her enthusiasm for the natural beauty and culture of these South American countries led her to share expeditions with adventurous adults, families, middle school, high school and college students so that they, too, could have this once-in-a-life-time opportunity to explore these most fantastic countries.

Abby founded Pumamaki Expeditions, Inc. to encourage and invite everyone the chance to experience the hidden treasures of South America.
